Maruti Suzuki India today finally launched the new Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Bookings for the new Swift are already underway, interested customers can book it online or by visiting their nearest dealership. Booking about is set at Rs 11,000. Test drives and deliveries are expected to begin from May 12 onwards.

New Maruti Swift: Pricing and variants

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is offered in five variants – LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi plus and ZXI Plus DT with prices ranging from Rs 6.49 lakh to 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom).Variant-wise pricing is listed below. The new Swift is available in nine exterior colour options with three dual-tone and two new luster blue and noval orange colours. The company is also offering Racing Roadstar and Thrill Chaser accessory packages which add cosmetic changes inside – out.

New Maruti Swift: Design

The new Swift in its fourth generation is essentially a heavily updated version of the third-gen platform with a new design, new engine, improved dynamics and an updated interior layout with new features and safety. The new Swift is 15mm longer, 40mm narrower and 30mm taller than the old model. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,450mm.

The new Maruti Swift features a re-designed front bumper and a new grille with chunky black surrounds and it also features re-designed smoked LED headlamps with DRLs. Below it gets the revised fog lamp housing with a splitter. The clamshell bonnet of the new Swift is a lot shallower and at the sides, the door handles for the rear doors are back to their conventional location, instead of on the C-pillar, the hatch also gets newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels. It also features prominent character lines running across the door panels.
At the rear, it gets a re-designed tailgate and a new bumper with a skid plate below. Other highlights include an integrated rear spoiler with a stop lamp, LED taillights with C-shaped DRLs and reflectors below. Other highlights include blacked-out ORVMs, roofs and pillars.

New Maruti Swift: Interior and features

Moving inside, the interior of the new Swift takes inspiration from Baleno and Fronx. It gets a new dashboard layout with a floating infotainment system with sleek AC vents and HVAC controls below. In terms of features, it gets a free-standing 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech, 40 plus connected car features, wireless charger, semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, steering-mounted controls, automatic climate controls, push-button start, rear parking camera with sensors and much more.

New Maruti Swift: Safety and colour options

In terms of safety, the new Swift gets six airbags, ESP, hill hold control, and three-point seatbelt standard across all variants. As mentioned before, the new Swift is offered with nine colour options – Sizzling Red, Pearl Arctic White, Magma Grey, and Splendid Silver. Three dual-tone colours to choose from – Lustre Blue with Midnight Black roof, Sizzling Red with Midnight Black roof, and Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black roof.

Maruti Swift 2024: Engine and gearbox

The biggest change on the new Swift is on the powertrain front. The new Swift is powered by an all-new Z-Series, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that’ll replace the existing K12 four-cylinder engine. The new Swift has claimed fuel-efficiency of 24.8 kmpl for the MT variants and 25.75 kmpl for AMT. The new engine puts out 82 hp of power and 112 nm of torque. In comparison, the previous model produced 90 hp and 113 nm, a drop of 8 hp and 1 Nm.
