Nikon Unveils Z8: Equipped with a 46MP Sensor and 8K Video Recording, Matching Flagship Z9

Nikon has officially announced the release of the Z8, the follow-up to its flagship mirrorless camera, the Z9. The Z8 offers the same 46MP sensor and 8K video recording capabilities as the Z9, but in a more compact and lightweight body. The Z8 is approximately 30% smaller than the Z9 and 15% smaller than the D850. It features a 45.7MP stacked CMOS sensor, EXPEED 7 image-processing engine, 3D-tracking autofocus system, fully electronic shutter, and blackout-free viewfinder. The Z8 can shoot 20fps RAW, 30fps full-resolution JPEGs, and 60fps cropped JPEGs. It can also record 8K/60p video in Nikon’s compressed 12-bit RAW format, as well as 4K/120p from 8.3K capture. The main differences between the Z8 and Z9 are the smaller form factor and the use of a single CFexpress slot and an SD card slot instead of dual CFexpress slots. The Z8 also has a smaller battery, resulting in a lower CIPA rating of 330 shots per charge compared to the Z9’s 700 shots per charge. The Z8 will retail for $4,000 and will be available from May 25th.
