It looks like there will be a Nintendo Direct in February, just not quite when fans were expecting. With last year’s Nintendo Direct taking place on February 8, most fans thought a similar presentation would take place later this week. Fortunately, while it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a Nintendo Direct at some point this week, fans won’t have to wait too much longer for the Nintendo Switch-focused event to happen.

That’s according to a report on Nintendo Universe, which claims the first Nintendo Direct of 2024 will take place between February 12 and February 15.

Based on recent leaks, rhythm action game Hi-Fi Rush is tipped to make an appearance on the Nintendo handheld.

It’s believed the game will launch on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation on the same day as the Nintendo Direct conference.

Nintendo will also use the upcoming Direct to showcase new Switch games like Princess Peach Showtime, Mario vs Donkey Kong, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Needless to say, fans will also be eager to hear about the Nintendo Switch successor, which is rumoured to launch this year.

The unannounced console will reportedly cost $399 at launch, which is $100 more than the price of the original Switch when it released in 2017.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will also have an LCD display, instead of a superior OLED screen. The decision to use an LCD screen is seen as a cost-cutting measure for Nintendo.

According to previous reports, the new console will launch with an impressive 12GB of RAM.

While it’s less than the 16GB of RAM used in the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it’s more than the 10GB of RAM found in the Xbox Series S.

It’s also believed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support Ray-tracing technology for superior lighting and shadows.
