OnePlus 12R Launch: Refunds Offered to Buyers | OnePlus News |

OnePlus launched OnePlus 12R last month and it said that the OnePlus 12R 256GB version comes with UFS 4.0 storage. However, several users raised queries regarding the lower read and write speeds of the variant, responding to which the company admitted error and confirmed that all the variant of the OnePlus 12R come with UFS 3.1 storage.
“During the launch of the OnePlus 12R, we announced Trinity Engine, a new set of software algorithms that help keep your phone’s memory and storage running fast and smooth for years to come.Due to an error, we stated that the storage enhanced by Trinity Engine would be UFS 4.0 in some variants. I can now confirm that the storage in all variants of the OnePlus 12R is still enhanced by Trinity Engine but is actually UFS 3.1,” OnePlus said in a statement.
Taking the matter forward, OnePlus president and COO Kinder Liu has now announced further action plan, which includes a refund to people who purchased the 256GB storage version. However, this can only be done until March 16.

Difference between UFS 3.1 and UFS 4.0 storage
The UFS 4.0 storage offers faster read and write speeds for an efficient performance. The UFS 3.1 is slightly slower and can be found in various affordable premium and mid-range smartphones, including the OnePlus 11 Series. OnePlus said that even if the phone has UFS 3.1 storage, the OnePlus 12R “will still perform really well when reading and writing to memory.”
