On Aug. 8, the band posted on its Instagram that the last two shows, in Portland, Oregon, and Salt Lake City, Utah, were officially canceled.

“I truly hope Hayley gets better. But this is so disappointing since paramore has not come to Portland in years and the show cancels when they finally do,” one fan posted on social media.

“I know that trying to finish this tour is now going to come at a detriment to my health. My lungs are just not healing quickly enough to keep up. It got a little scary tonight,” Williams said in an Instagram story. “I’m so sorry for all the chaos this has caused some of you. I really tried to kick this s—t.”

After much fan speculation about whether Paramore had food poisoning or COVID-19, Williams revealed in a much more personal post that she was suffering from a lung infection.

“For the record, we did not have food poisoning or a band-wide s—t fest,” Williams said in a now-disappeared Instagram story. “In all seriousness, this past week has been really tough. Nobody would know this, but I started getting sick in Houston (noncontagious) and muscled my way all the way through LA. Adrenaline is a wonder!”

She also said she was attacked by “internet bros” for postponing the shows, who asked why she couldn’t go on like Dave Grohl, lead singer of the Foo Fighters, who once went on with a broken leg.

“Enough of this small-dick energy!” Williams said at the show.

After Paramore dropped their long-awaited sixth album, “This Is Why,” six years after their 2017 project, “After Laughter,” super fans were willing to camp for hours, and some even days before, to get a coveted wristband that guaranteed a spot as close to the stage as possible. Some fans awaiting their chance in Portland had already started camping when the news was officially announced.
