Paytm merchants can now also accept card payments with new ‘Card Soundbox’

Paytm has launched the Card Soundbox. This will enable merchants to accept both mobile and card payments across all Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and RuPay networks via the Soundbox with a simple ‘tap and pay’ feature.
The Card Soundbox will help merchants scale their business and accept payments with ease, said the company.
As per the company, the Card Soundbox solves two problems for merchants – accepting card payments and getting instant audio alerts for all payments. This device will expand payment acceptance for merchants by combining Soundbox with NFC or contactless debit and credit card payments with mobile payments. The device provides both audio and visual payment confirmation through an LCD display to the merchant and the customer.
The Paytm Card Soundbox is a device made in India. The built-in ‘tap and pay’ functionality allows merchants to accept card payments of up to Rs 5,000. The device is powered by 4G network connectivity, ensuring payment alerts are delivered quickly. Furthermore, Paytm Card Soundbox users with NFC-enabled smartphones can make payments using the tap feature.
The device offers alerts in 11 languages, and merchants can easily change the language of the alerts using the Paytm for Business app. The Soundbox also has a 4W speaker and a five-day battery life.
“Paytm has always been at the forefront of innovating for India’s small businesses, solving their payments and financial services problems. Today with Paytm Card Soundbox, we take it to the next level. We have found that merchants and consumers need card acceptance as simply as mobile payments with Paytm QR Code. The launch of Card Soundbox will go a long way in merging the two requirements of merchants – mobile payments and card payments,” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder & CEO of Paytm.
“Audio payment alerts have transformed digital payments in India and enabled many merchants to seamlessly digitize their businesses. Paytm Card Soundbox is India’s first Soundbox that will also accept contactless card payments and would further accelerate cashless transactions in the country,” said NPCI.
