Sony has announced plans to hold a PlayStation State of Play event for January 2024. The first State of Play event of the year will take place at 10pm GMT UK time on the evening of January 31. Running for around 40 minutes, the Sony State of Play presentation will showcase more than 15 games coming to PS5 and PSVR 2 in 2024 and beyond. Even more good news is that the State of Play event will be broadcast live right here, so hit play on the video below to watch the event as it happens.

The news was announced by Sony on the PlayStation Blog, alongside a sneak preview about what to expect.

“Hi everyone, 2024 has just begun and it’s time for our very first State of Play!” reads a Sony post.

“The broadcast will be over 40 minutes long, and feature guest appearances from some of the most talented minds in gaming.

“Among many other updates, we’ll feature extended looks at Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, two great games coming to PS5 this year. And we’ll give you a new look at other titles coming to PS5 and PS VR2 in 2024 and beyond.”

In addition to Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade, Sony is expected to give fans a look at Death Stranding 2, which is reportedly subtitled ‘On the Beach’.

Another game tipped to make an appearance during the State of Play event is Until Dawn, which is said to be coming to PS5 later this year.

Elsewhere, new reports suggest SEGA will announce some kind of Sonic Generations remake or sequel.

According to video game insider Kurakasis, the upcoming Sonic game will be titled Sonic X Shadow Generations. The name suggests that the upcoming remaster will feature Shadow the Hedgehog as a playable character.

Another leak suggests the long-awaited Silent Hill 2 remake will get a new trailer, alongside Judas, a new Metro VR game and Concord.

A new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth feels like a given, especially with the game scheduled to launch at the end of February.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a State of Play event without rumours of a new Bloodborne release, be it a PS5 remaster, PC port, or fully-fledged sequel. The game is trending on X (formerly Twitter) at the time of writing, as fans pray to the gaming gods for any Bloodborne related announcement. Fingers crossed!
