Price for Three-Year World Cruise Set to Increase

Miray Cruises is offering a three-year cruise around the world on their new ship, MV Lara. The prices for this cruise are higher than originally advertised, causing concern for current and potential passengers. One new requirement for passengers is that they must board the ship at a port outside of the United States, allowing Miray Cruises to avoid paying for a performance bond required by the Federal Maritime Commission. This bond would reimburse passengers if the cruise operator fails to complete the trip. Previously, the cruise was supposed to take place on the MV Gemini, but disputes over the ship’s qualifications and the status of the performance bond led to a change in plans. Miray Cruises is now using the MV Lara instead, which can accommodate more passengers. Despite the changes, Miray Cruises assures passengers that they will still honor the original price they paid for the cruise on the MV Gemini. However, prices for future bookings are expected to increase. Some passengers have expressed concerns about the lack of a performance bond and are using their credit cards to make payments for the cruise, hoping for some form of recourse in case the cruise is canceled.
