Prince William has let rip with his cheekier side after making an X-rated confession during a radio interview.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were speaking on BBC Radio 1 on Thursday when William was asked about his most-used emoji.

And his answer was rather unexpected.

“Is this a clean thing or is this a family one?” he asked, meaning whether or not the radio program was family friendly.

“I’ve been told not to say the aubergine, so I’ve got to pick something else,” he continued.

“It would have been the aubergine, but now I am saying – because I’ve got to be a little grown up – it’s the one where the eyes go up and down and the mouth’s out.”

The aubergine (or eggplant) emoji is most often used as a cheeky reference to male genitalia.

Kate’s response was more conservative, unsurprisingly.

She said her two most-used emojis were the heart and the crying symbols.

“The sort of like hysterical laughing when things have gone wrong,” she said.

Later in the radio segment, the BBC hosts talked about having had Kate and William join their show, describing William’s answer as “brilliant” and adding that the future King, 41, had a “dirty mind”.

It was recently claimed by royal author Tom Quinn that Kate and William have special secret nicknames for each other.

In his book Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, Quinn wrote that William called Kate “babykins”, while Kate called Will “babe” or, somewhat less flatteringly, “baldy”.

The couple, who have been married since 2011, have also been known to affectionately call each other “darling” in public.

Recently, body language expert Louise Mahler analysed footage of Kate and William together and said their relationship was absolutely rock solid.

Speaking on The Morning Show, Mahler said it was impossible to find any kind of “crack” in their marriage.

“I can’t find a crack – they are perfect,” she said, noting that Kate and William had been showing subtle signs of affection more frequently in public.

“When she touches him, and she always touches him in an appropriate place – on the arm, on the back – and when he touches her, the eyes go with it.

“They are completely in sync.

“They move in the same way.

“I can’t find a crack – they are magnificent.”
