Rahul Gandhi working to take level of politics to new low, says Amit Shah on fake videos | India News

NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday slammed Congress for spreading “fake videos” of him and “several other BJP leaders”, adding that Rahul Gandhi has taken the “level of politics to a new low”.

Chief Ministers, State president and others have also done the work of forwarding this fake video…Today a prominent leader of the Congress Party is facing a criminal offence”, Shah said at a press conference in Guwahati, Assam.
“Ever since Rahul Gandhi took charge of the Congress, he has been working to take the level of politics to a new low”, he added.
‘BJP has expertise in defaming people’: Kharge hits back
Responding to this, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that the BJP has “expertise” to “make videos and defame people through social media.”
“Whatever work they do to ruin the image of people, we will never do it. We only want that the country should remain one, and everyone should work together. There should be no hate speech,” Kharge said.
“PM Modi always gives hate speech…PM Modi should not talk like this at least in elections. But they are doing it. That’s why I appeal, at least have a little patience, don’t talk like this with frustration,” he added.
‘Why has Congress not taken any action in Karnataka’: Amit Shah on ‘obscene video’ case
On being asked about the ‘obscene video’ case involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, Amit Shah said that the Centre can’t take any action as law and order is a state issue. He further questioned why the state government had not taken any action in the case.
“I want to ask Congress, whose government is there? The government is of Congress Party. Why they have not taken any action till now?”, he said.
“We do not have to take action on this as this is a law and order issue of the state, state government has to take action on it…We are in favor of the investigation and our partner JD(S) has also announced to take action against it. Today there is a meeting of their core committee and steps will be taken,” he added.
‘Congress lacks self-confidence to contest from Amethi’
On being asked about Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s candidature from Amethi and Raebareli, Amit Shah said, “I don’t know whether they will contest elections or not but the amount of confusion shows that they lack self-confidence. The situation in Uttar Pradesh is that they have left their traditional seats and ran away.”
