Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Kanpur has devised an emergency pack for cardiac patients called ‘Ram kit‘, which is named after the traditional medical proverb ‘We Treat He Cures’. It has an image of the Ram temple, essential medications, and medical contact numbers.
Beginning on January 13, the Cantonment hospital in Prayagraj will be the first hospital in the state to provide ‘Ram kits’ to 5,000 households in Sangam city.”The Ram kit comprises three medicines, including Ecosprin (blood thinner), Rosuvastatin (cholesterol control), and Sorbitrate (for better heart function), which are helpful in offering immediate relief to anyone suffering from heart ailments,” said Dr. S K Pandey, director of Cantonment Hospital. Ram Kit will be beneficial to anyone in need of emergency support and could even save lives as heart disease and stroke cases rose during the winter.”

Dr. Neeraj Kumar, senior cardiologist at the Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, said the kit is named after Lord Ram because everyone believes in his name. “The medications in this kit have the potential to save lives by thinning blood, opening vein blockages, and giving heart patients rapid relief. What better name could a device that saves lives have?”Dr. Kumar stated that the kit, which costs a pitiful Rs 7, is made with the lowest of the poor in mind.

Remarkably, the term ‘Ram Baan’ in Hindi signifies “the ultimate solution” to an issue and comes from the concept that the prince of Ayodhya, Lord Ram never missed a target. The Ram kit includes a picture of the Lord Ram temple, the names of essential medications, and the hospital’s helpline number.

All three of the medications prescribed to heart attack victims are included in the box. The risk to life will be somewhat reduced if a person takes these medications at home in case of a heart attack or chest pain, and doctors will have more time to assess and care for the patient while they are being transported to the hospital.

But in the event of chest trouble, Dr. Pandey advised against staying at home and depending only on the kit. “The kit’s objective is to provide medical professionals with the critical moment to save lives. When experiencing chest pain, patients should take the medications included in the kit and get straight to the closest hospital, the doctor advised. According to Dr. Kumar, without these medications, patients may pass away while traveling to the hospital.
