RBI Reports 88% of Rs 2000 Notes in Circulation Have Been Returned

The RBI announced that 88% of the Rs 2000 notes in circulation have been returned to banks as of July 31, amounting to a total value of Rs 3.14 lakh crore. The remaining Rs 2000 banknotes still in circulation amount to Rs 0.42 lakh crore. The RBI has advised people to deposit or exchange their Rs 2000 banknotes in the next two months to avoid any last-minute rush before the September 30, 2023 deadline.
