Recently Retired NYPD Captain Shoots Man In Road Rage Incident

A former New York Police Department captain, who retired in October of 2023, shot another man in the leg during a road rage incident in the Brighton Beach section of Brooklyn on New Year’s Eve. I cannot imagine what took place before this, but I guarantee it is not worth shooting a dude over.

Anyway, the former cop was driving a Toyota Corolla when he got into some sort of argument with a 22-year-old man driving a Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe on Coney Island Ave. near Brighton Beach Ave. around 2:15 p.m. on December 31, according to the New York Post. Both drivers got out of their cars and started yelling at each other, a proud New York City tradition. That’s when the whole thing turned violent. The former NYPD captain fired his gun at the 22-year-old, hitting him in the left leg.

He was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn where he was listed in stable condition, The Post reports. The former cop was also taken to the same hospital, but it’s not clear right now whether or not he’ll face charges even though he’s in custody, according to the Daily News.

Given the fact he’s an 18-year NYPD captain who retired due to his disability pension, I’m going to go out on a limb and say he will not be. Police have not released the identity of the shooter or the victim.
