Renault India Readies to Make a Comeback in the Mid-Sized SUV Market

French automaker Renault is planning to re-enter India’s thriving mid-sized SUV market by 2025 with three new models, according to a top executive. The company intends to introduce two internal combustion models and one electric vehicle as part of its expansion strategy in the country. Renault’s current lineup in India includes the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger. However, the automaker aims to enter the four plus metres segment which already features popular models like the Creta, Seltos, and Grand Vitara. They aim to bring innovations to this segment, similar to when they entered the market with the Duster. By 2025, Renault will have a total of six products in its portfolio, followed by further expansion until 2030. While the exact details about the new product in the SUV segment are unclear, the CEO emphasized Renault’s focus on SUVs to meet the demands of the market. The company is also committed to supporting its dealerships during the transition period. In partnership with Nissan, Renault announced an investment of approximately Rs 5,300 crore in India, including the launch of two electric vehicles, as part of their joint expansion plans.
