Riley Keough and Priscilla Presley Were an Impeccable Pair at the Emmys

But back to the Emmys fashion. Keough wanted to slip into a red carpet look that was both timeless and glamorous. She and stylist Jamie Mizrahi chose Chanel’s black couture gown made of organza, which was embellished with braids and styled with embroidered shorts. Over 830 hours of work went into the final look, which featured around 70,000 embroidery elements. “This was the first dress I tried on, but I think I had too much time to overthink it, so I tried on a bunch of others,” says Keough of the winning ensemble. “But I kept going back to the black one—the way it fit my body was just so effortless and light, and I felt really comfortable in it.” She accessorized the look with Chanel high jewelry pieces including a platinum and diamonds ring, as well as a pair of 18-karat white gold and diamond earrings.

Keough’s hair and makeup artist, Mai Quynh and Gregory Russell, meanwhile, leaned into a retro-chic glam look for the star. “I let Gregory and Mai do what they wanted,” says Keough. “I usually like simple looks, but Gregory wanted to do more of a look, so he pulled my hair back. It’s a fun opportunity to dress up and do something different.” The end result, slightly reminiscent of groovy bouffant, was a thoughtful nod back to Daisy Jones & The Six, which revolves around all things 1970s. Turns out, Keough is a fan of that style era back then, too. “I always loved the 60s and 70s,” says Keough. “Aesthetically, it was such a special time for music, architecture, and fashion. My parents listened to 70’s music—that was what I was exposed to.”

As for what you’ll see from Keough for the rest of awards season? You might just spot her on more red carpets to come—whether solo or with her chic grandmother. She already has her eye on more Chanel looks. “When I went into Chanel the other day [for the Emmys fitting], I had a hard time picking because I had 10 things I wanted to wear, so my hope is that they’ll save me one of them,” say Keough. “Don’t give them away!”
