Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders’ finisher Rinku Singh did not take the field on Tuesday at the Eden Gardens against Rajasthan Royals and that raises speculations over his fitness. Following the game which the Knight Riders lost, Rinku revealed that he is carrying a niggle and hence he was not fielding. We cannot confirm the magnitude of the niggle and KKR fans would be hoping he does not miss the next game. Rinku has assured fans that he would be fielding in the next match.
“I have a bit of a niggle. That’s why I have not been able to field. In the next match, which is on April 21, I will field,” Rinku told the press in Kolkata.
Claiming that he has not got many chances with the bat this season, Rinku recalled the five sixes he hit in the last over off Yash Dayal.
“That day was my day. It was a very good feeling (5 sixes in 2023). But, in this season, I have not been able to get a lot of chances to bat. The top-order batters are doing very well, for instance, Narine today. Whatever opportunities, I get, I will try to score in them,” Rinku added.
KKR will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they take on bottom-placed RCB in Kolkata on Sunday, April 21.
Rinku is very much in contention for a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad which is expected to be announced in a fortnight from today. He is being looked at as the finisher.
