Riverside car wash goes horribly wrong as Mahindra Scorpio N sinks: Here’s why

In what was supposed to be a routine car wash for a Mahindra Scorpio N in the rural parts of Chhattisgarh, the entire event took a shocking turn that led the owner and his car in a mess; only to be retrieved by a heavy duty crane. The incident occurred in Baikunthpur town of the Koriya district in Chhattisgarh.
Unlike the metro cities, there are not many car washes available in the rural areas and hence people often rely on river banks to wash their vehicles.Reportedly, the driver brought the Scorpio N to Jhumka Bandh in the Baikunthpur region, a spot where locals typically wash their cars and bikes. Upon parking the SUV at the river bank, he exited the vehicle and the car started to roll into the water. The driver realized that he hadn’t engaged the handbrake but it was too late by then as the SUV had already plunged into the river.

Rescue efforts were swift, with locals arriving at the scene within minutes. A heavy-duty crane was deployed to retrieve the submerged SUV, which had partially sunk into the riverbed, leaving only the rear part out slightly. More information on the incident is awaited.

This incident serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with vehicle ownership. While SUVs like the Mahindra Scorpio N excel in off-roading, owners must be cautious and aware of their limits. The failure to apply the handbrake turned this situation into a disaster, leading to water filling the cabin as the windows were left open. The owner is likely to face significant repair costs. Recently, another Mahindra Thar owner tried to cross a river in Himachal to dodge the traffic but was fined by the police.
