Rolls-Royce Droptail: Ultra-rare coach-built roadster with abundance of luxury

Rolls-Royce has introduced the first of four unique Rolls-Royce Droptail commissions, named ‘La Rose Noire’, a two-door roadster with abundance of luxury. The coach-built Droptail follows on from the Sweptail introduced in 2017 and the Boat Tail that made its debut in 2021. Only four units of the new Rolls-Royce Droptail will be built for the extravagant customers.
Rolls-Royce says that the La Rose Noire is inspired by romance and the allure of the Black Baccara rose, and that it incorporates the most complex expression of parquetry in the luxury car manufacturer’s history. The car has a total of 1,603 wood pieces that are hand-finished and were hand-placed over almost two-year period, while a new exterior paint process was adapted that took 150 iterations.

The Rolls-Royce Droptail comes equipped with a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine that belts out 593 hp of maximum power and a massive 841 Nm of peak torque. The Droptail gets a unique removable hard top that Rolls-Royce claim has been designed to give the vehicle two distinct characters: without its roof Droptail is an open-top roadster; with the roof installed, it becomes a coupe. The 22-inch alloy wheels feature the dark Mystery paint finish which appears black from afar, but upon closer examination, reveals its shimmering dark red undertones.

The Droptail La Rose Noire also features a wearable Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept timepiece, which was specially commissioned by the buyer of the luxury vehicle. The client is said to have requested that the timepiece should both be mounted in the car and also be removable, so that it can be attached to a strap and worn. The La Rose Noire also gets a specially curated Rolls-Royce Champagne Chest which opens at the press of a button, revealing an intricate champagne set consisting of hand-blown crystal champagne flutes.
While Rolls-Royce hasn’t revealed the price of the Droptail La Rose Noire, it is rumoured to cost upwards of $20 million, which converts to a whopping Rs 166 crore in Indian currency! What do you think about the Rolls-Royce Droptail? Let us know in the comments down below.
