Royal Enfield Classic 350 ‘Flex Fuel’ revealed, to run on a blend of petrol and ethanol

Royal Enfield, the popular Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer, is planning to introduce a new variant of its well-loved Classic 350 model. This new model, called the Classic 350 ‘Flex Fuel’, was recently showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi. While maintaining the iconic design of the regular Classic 350, the Flex Fuel model will be available in different color, featuring a striking metallic green fuel tank with red livery, a single seat, and wire-spoke wheels.
What sets this new model apart is its ability to run on flex fuel, which is a blend of petrol and ethanol. Ethanol is an alcohol-based biofuel derived from renewable sources such as sugarcane or corn. The ethanol content in flex fuel vehicles can be adjusted according to availability and regulations, typically ranging from 10% to 85%. Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 ‘Flex Fuel’ model, according to the company’s spec sheet, can run on an ethanol mix of up to 85%. The powerful 350cc engine generates 20 horsepower and 27 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

While the manufacturer has not yet announced a specific launch date for this new model, it is expected to hit the streets sometime next year. It is worth mentioning that there are already several models in India that can run on E20 petrol, which contains a 20% ethanol mix. As technology and infrastructure continue to advance, we can anticipate the blending percentage to increase in the future.
