Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 revealed: Changes over Super Meteor 650

After unveiling the limited-edition Shotgun 650 Motoverse Edition at its very-own Motoverse event last month, Royal Enfield has now revealed the production-ready version of the Shotgun 650 that will hit the markets very soon! The Shotgun 650 will go on to become the fourth motorcycle to be built on Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform, joining the likes of Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, as well as the Super Meteor 650.
As a matter of fact, the Shotgun 650 has a few things in common with the Super Meteor 650, but is still very different. Royal Enfield calls it a “one-of-its-kind custom-inspired motorcycle” that is based on the SG650 Concept that was debuted at the EICMA 2021. While the motorcycle features a single-seat bobber-style setup as standard, it can easily switch to a double seater, thanks to the removable pillion seat that pops off with the twist of a key.
At 240 kg, the Shotgun 650 is 1 kg lighter than its sibling Super Meteor 650, while is also slightly shorter. As against the 740 mm seat height on the Super Meteor 650, the Shotgun 650 has a much taller 795 mm seat. The foot pegs are set in the middle, while the handlebar is also flatter – resulting in an upright riding position as against the cruising nature of the Super Meteor. Moreover, the alloy wheel design is also new for the Shotgun.

Powering the motorcycle is the same 648cc parallel-twin engine putting out 47hp power and 52.3Nm torque as the other RE 650 motorcycles. Braking is taken care of by a 320mm disc at the front and a 300mm disc at the back. Suspension setup on the Shotgun consists of Showa USD forks at the front and pre-load adjustable dual shocks at the rear.
Features on offer include an LED headlight, Tripper navigation, and dual-channel ABS. Royal Enfield will offer the Shotgun 650 in four colour options at launch, namely Stencil White, Plasma Blue, Green Drill and Sheetmetal Grey. Pricing for the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is yet to be revealed, but we expect it to undercut the Super Meteor 650. A base price of about Rs 3.4-3.5 lakh (ex-showroom) can be expected.
