The Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’ witnessed a significant downturn, recording its lowest collection to date at the box office. According to early box office estimates recorded by Sacnilk.com, the film earned an estimated Rs 1.75 crore on Day 21.
Interestingly, this dip in numbers comes as a noteworthy contrast to Thursday’s box office report which stated that the film surpassed the elite Rs 400 crore milestone.
‘Salaar’ which initially garnered substantial attention and widespread acclaim, encountered a decline in its box office performance, raising questions about its sustained appeal with several new releases this weekend at the box office. The film’s earnings on Day 21 mark a considerable drop from its earlier impressive box office figures, signalling a shift in audience interest. While the film made a splash with a Rs 90 crore opening, this was the first time in its three-week run that its collections landed in the Rs 1 crore range.
The Prashanth Neel directorial has been fighting off competition from the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki since its release. Now, it will face-off against a new Hindi release – Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi‘s ‘Merry Christmas’. The new thriller, has been receiving rave reviews online, and drawing in the crowds, thanks to the good word of mouth.

‘Salaar’ has just one more week before it faces another big opponent in Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Fighter’ which releases on January 25.
With the film’s total collection now an estimated Rs 401 crore, it will be interesting to see if the movie has what it takes to surpass the lifetime collections of Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’. The 2023 release wrapped up its box office run with a collection of Rs 408 crore.
