Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who has given stellar hits like Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and Animal, recently addressed the backlash and criticism surrounding the climaxes of his films.
According to Vanga, a portion of the audience disapproved of the climax of his films because they expected a more conventional resolution, where the protagonists face consequences for their actions.
He told Dainik Bhaskar, “People are accustomed to a hero giving a lecture in the climax. He should accept on the screen that what he did was wrong, that is when people get satisfied. They wanted Kabir to accept that he was wrong and that he should not have gotten Preeti. In Animal too, there were so many consequences, the father is going to die, his wife will be leaving him, his health is gone for a toss. Aur kya chahiye, maar dun hero ko climax mein? (What else do you want? Do you want me to kill the hero in the climax?)”

‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga hits back at Kiran Rao’s stalking criticism

Vanga went on to argue that audiences often struggle with films if they don’t receive the expected or desired climax. “When personal agenda comes in between watching a film, then Avatar will be boring, Animal kya hai?” he stated.

Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri among others, enjoyed massive footfalls in theatres and went on to gross Rs 900 crore in its lifetime. The movie also registered record-breaking viewership after its recent release on an OTT platform.
