OAKLAND – Police on Wednesday released two images of a second vehicle that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run last week in West Oakland.
The images depict a white Toyota RAV4. The SUV appeared to be the second to hit 59-year-old Oakland resident Kim Barranco, according to the Oakland Police Department.
“Investigators are looking to identify the driver, who may not have known they struck a pedestrian,” police said in a news release.
The hit-and-run happened just before 1 p.m. on Jan. 9 in the 2400 block of San Pablo Avenue. Police said Barranco was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban. Barranco was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet did not stop at the scene and was last seen heading northbound on San Pablo Avenue, police said. The Chevrolet was later recovered in Oakland.
Police have not announced any arrests in the case.
