Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan‘s Shaitaan completed a month at the box office and the film has had a smooth run at, where it has minted about Rs 142 in 31 days. The film is likely to conclude its box office run soon enough with an expected collection of Rs 145 crore, Rs 5 crore short of what the trade was expecting the film to do.
The shortfall happened because of films like Crew, Article 370 and Madgaon Express, which also received a lot of love from the audiences.The journey ahead for Shairaan looks difficult with the release of two big tickets films on Eid, 10th April. One being Ajay’s Maidaan and other being Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
Shaitaan in its first week earned Rs 79.75 crore, followed by a 56% decline in the second week, earning Rs 34.55 crore, in the third week it added Rs 19.35 crore in its kitty, while in the fourth week it earned just Rs 6.65 crore, taking the total to Rs 140.3 crore. In its fifth weekend, the film took a good start where on Friday it earned Rs 45 lakhs and on Saturday it jumped by 100 % to collect Rs 90 lakhs, thus taking the final total to Rs 142.15 crore. The film has emerged as a money spinner for the makers.
“Shaitaan” is the official Hindi remake of the Gujarati film “Vash,” featuring newcomer Janki Bodiwala. Talks are already underway for the second installment of the series. Ajay also has Singham Again, Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha and Raid 2 in the pipeline.
