Recently, composer Pyarelal Sharma of the duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal was announced as a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, on the eve of Republic Day. Their career has spanned across eight decades. However, while they’ve always worked together and composed together, Laxmikant Kudalkar was left behind for the Padma Bhushan.
Laxmikant’s wife and family were very upset with this as they wrote a letter to Amit Shah to look into the matter and spoke about the entire journey of this composer duo. A million dollar question that, “could there be a Pyarelal without a Laxmikant?” was asked! Meanwhile, now actor Shatrughan Sinha also has urged PM Narendra Modi and the Government to relook into this. Shatrguhan shared an old picture with Rishi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, Tina Ambani from the sets of Subhash Ghai‘s ‘Karz‘. Sinha had given the clap for the mahurat shot of the film which did not star him. One also sees Laxmikant Pyarelal in another picture with them.
Sharing this post, Sinha recalled memories and said, “A beautiful memory sent by a friend, which brings back fondest memories of the years gone by. Sharing it for you to appreciate & enjoy too! Laxmikant of the duo Laximikant-Pyarelal, charismatic #RishiKapoor the genius lyricist #AnandBakshi soulful evergreen, all time great #MohdRafi renowned filmmaker of ‘Woh Kaun Thi’ ‘Kalicharan’ & many films fame, late & great #NNSippy & my very dear struggle time friend from Lakhimpur Kheri, Bipin Upadhyay are not with us today.”

Shatrughan further said he is happy for Pyarelal, but feels sad about Laxmikant being left behind for the Padma Bhushan. “Though feel very happy for #Pyarelalji for receiving the Padma Bhushan but at the same time feel very sorry that they have been divided into 2 & why the great #Laxmikant of the duo has been left out? I hope wish & pray that the @PMO & the Govt will have a relook at the matter & will do the needful with remedial measures soon, sooner the better. Jai Hind!”
