Shotgun: Royal Enfield unveils Shotgun 650 in India: 25 custom-built units up for grabs ahead of ’24 launch

Royal Enfield has unveiled the Shotgun Twin 650motorcycle at the ongoing RE Motoverse in India. The Bobber-style motorcycle will be based on the SG650 concept first showcased at the EICMA 2021. The all-new model since then has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions. We can expect the manufacturer to launch the motorcycle early in 2024.
The unit put on display during the event was one of the 25 hand-built units, which some lucky customers can purchase for Rs 4.25 lakh, ex-showroom, as part of a lucky draw. The deliveries of the Shotgun 650 Motoverse edition will begin in January 2024. At present, RE offers three models that employ a twin-cylinder engine – the Interceptor 650, Continental GT, and the latest, Super Meteor 650.

Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Twin Walkaround: How different is it from the Super Meteor 650 | TOI Auto

The Shotgun 650 closely resembles the Super Meteor 650 but has got a handful of changes in comparison to the cruiser motorcycle. The former features shortened fenders, plastic casing around the headlamp, different design for the turn indicators, black-finished exhaust mufflers with differently-designed tips, flat handlebar, bar-end mirrors, which is different in the case of its older sibling. Further, it gets a taller seat and mid-set foot pegs, thus giving it an upright riding position.
For suspension duties, the bike gets inverted forks and a dual shock unit at the back. Braking is handled by disc brakes on both ends, likely to be the same used in the Super Meteor. Further, we can expect the motorcycle to be lighter, shorter, and lower in height as compared to its sibling.
Royal Enfield has not revealed the specifications of the motorcycle yet. However, it could possibly employ the familiar 648cc, oil/air-cooled parallel-twin mill with different tuning to suit the nature of the bike.
