Bee Gees legend Sir Barry Gibb praised his late brothers as he received “the most incredible honour of his life” from US President Joe Biden.
The 77-year-old British musician took to the red carpet to be acknowledged at the renowned annual Kennedy Center Honors, which is a celebration of lifetime artistic achievements by performers.
And the famed falsetto was left beaming as President Biden told him during a gushing speech on Sunday: “I’m a fan”.
An emotional Sir Barry in his acceptance remarks paid tribute to his siblings, saying: “Without my brothers, I wouldn’t be standing here. I salute Maurice, Robin and Andy. We were a family of music and a family of love.”
He added: “Thank you all, this is the most incredible honour of my life.”
Isle of Man-born Sir Barry was joined by Hollywood greats and chart-topping stars for the glitzy evening in Washington DC.
Those also honoured were comedian Billy Crystal, opera soprano Renee Fleming, hip-hop pioneer and actress Queen Latifah plus singer Dionne Warwick.
Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Barbra Streisand and Sir Paul McCartney had appeared in pre-recorded messages for Sir Barry before country band Little Big Town sang Bee Gees’ hit Lonely Days.
Michael Buble praised the singer’s iconic hair and sang How Can You Mend A Broken Heart.
