Skoda: Next-gen Skoda Superb global debut on November 2: Everything we know so far

Czech Automaker Skoda recently revealed the interior images of the Skoda Superb and Kodiaq SUV. The company has now teased the images of both vehicles being tested in different climate and temperature conditions. The global launch of these vehicles is expected to happen by the end of 2023 while the India launch could take place sometime in 2024.
Skoda says that both the new Superb and Kodiaq SUVs have completed an intensive test in various terrain and climate conditions.The teased images reveal the cars being tested intense cold of the Arctic region and the blazing heat of the Arizona desert. Skoda claims that new Superb and Kodiaq have covered more than 10 lakh kilometres over the last two years.

Skoda claims that the next-generation Superb has gone through temperatures ranging between minus 30 degrees and 50 degrees C. The new Superb has travelled north of the Arctic Circle while also visiting Arizona, Spain, and Africa. The real-world testing of the vehicle started two years ago and the company also claims to have simulated 40 years of real-world use through additional endurance and material assessments on test rigs and in laboratories.

The Interior of the new Superb gets a newly designed dashboard layout with a big free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with small rotary dials below with a small screen embedded inside. The Superb features hidden air vents with vertical fins and Skoda says that the upholstery is made entirely out of recycled polyester. Another big change is the placement of the gear selector on the steering wheel column similar to Mercedes-Benz models.

The new Superb will feature a 13.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Other expected features include connected car tech, an in-built navigation system, a premium sound system, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster with a HUD display and much more. The instrument cluster can be customised with various themes and the colour theme will change according to the drive mode selected. The HUD display will put out various information such as speed, RPM, navigation and much more. Other features include the placement of a USB-C port on the centre rear view mirror which can be used to port the dashcam, 15W wireless smartphone charging, unique LED ambient light strip placements and umbrella storage at front doors.
Talking about the powertrain and gearbox, the new Superb will be offered with two petrol, two diesel and PHEV engine options. Range starts from a 1.5-litre turbo petrol paired with a DSG, bigger 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol with a DSG and AWD. Talking about the diesel, it gets a 2.0-litre TDI with two state of tunes and comes paired with a DSG gearbox. Talking about the PHEV, it’s a 1.5-litre TSI paired with an electric motor and a 25.7 kWh battery pack. Engine comes paired with a 6-speed DSG and Skoda claims the Superb PHEV will have an electric-only range of more than 100km.
