Skoda’s new compact SUV: What we know so far
The upcoming compact SUV will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, which also underpins the popular Kushaq and Slavia models.Furthermore, this SUV, like the other two stablemates, will be manufactured fully in India.
With this model, the manufacturer will be aiming to tap into this growing market and increase its overall market share in India. Currently, details about the upcoming SUV are limited, but Skoda has hinted that the vehicle’s name will likely follow the pattern of starting with the letter ‘K’ and ending with Q’, similar to the Kushaq and Kodiaq available in India. For now, the company has suggested five names for the upcoming SUV – Kylaq, Kariq, Kymaq, Kyroq, and Kwiq.

The model, set for an unveiling in March 2024, will officially be launched in 2025 as the company’s entry-level offering, and thus , will cater to the growing budget compact SUV segment.

While the company hasn’t revealed anything about the engine options of this debutant, it is possible that it will house the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. Manufactured in India, this motor delivers 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, as seen in the Kushaq and Slavia models.
