Home Sports ODI World Cup 2023: Snehasis Ganguly Confident Eden Gardens Is Ready For ICC Inspection, Says ‘We Are Prepared For Every Challenge’

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehasis Ganguly is expressing confidence in the upcoming inspection of Eden Gardens by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The historic venue has been assigned to host a total of five matches, including one semi-final clash, during the ODI World Cup 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allocated ₹50 crore to revamp the stadium infrastructure and facilities before the tournament begins. The ICC and BCCI representatives will inspect the stadiums before the matches commence. So far, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala have been visited by the representatives.

If arch-rivals India and Pakistan qualify for the semi-finals, they could potentially face each other in Kolkata. However, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which will host the other semi-final, will not host any matches involving Pakistan under any circumstances. Snehasis Ganguly, the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, expressed optimism about the upcoming inspection and emphasized their readiness to face any challenges. He mentioned that they have had discussions with the police to ensure security and that they are fully prepared for the ICC inspection.

Eden Gardens will host a total of five matches in the World Cup 2023, including a high-profile league stage game between India and South Africa on November 16. The stadium’s first match will be between Bangladesh and the Netherlands on October 28. A thrilling match between defending champions England and Pakistan is scheduled for November 12. The CAB has already announced the ticket prices for the matches, ranging from ₹900 to ₹3000, depending on the contest.

Eden Gardens, along with the Wankhede Stadium, received the best ground and pitch award at the end of the Indian Premier League 2023 season. To stay up to date with the latest updates, subscribe to our newsletter today!
