Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Relationship Tips: Sri Sri Ravishankar’s advice for couples for a successful relationship |

When it comes to love and relationships, it is often said, ‘Men are from Mars, women are from Venus’ referring to the difference in opinions and the way men and women react to different situations in life. But, how a couple manages to navigate the challenges they face in their relationship determines how successful their partnership would be in life.
To help couple in their relationships, in an old interview popular Indian spiritiual Guru Sri Sri Ravishankar shares his one piece of advice for both men and women. In the interview which is available on Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar‘s YouTube page, the spiritual master says that women should never hurt the ego of their husbands, while men shouldn’t hurt their wife’s emotions for a successful relationship.
Elaborating his advice for couples, Sri Sri Ravishankar says, “For a man, his ego is very important and especially by the wife. So women should take care that she should not squash the ego of her husband… A woman’s greatest skill is to manage the ego of her husband. Do not belittle the man. You keep pumping him (and his ego) because that is where he looks for support. When a woman squashes the ego of her husband he feels that he cannot function. So for the man to function the wife should nourish the ego of her husband… he doesn’t like to nourish his own ego.”
Gurudev further adds, “Similarly, a man should not squash the feelings or emotions of a woman. The feelings and sentiments of a woman is very important; for a man it doesn’t matter. But women are very sentimental especially when it comes to her parents, her brothers, and some very close relatives of hers. A man should not snub them, snatch them or do anything with her close relative or people she is sentimentally and emotionally attached to. (Some) women are also very religious– it should not be squashed. Don’t make her rational. That is her way of expressing herself.”
“So a man should take care of the sentiments of a woman, and a woman should take care of the ego of a man,” Sri Sri Ravishankar says in the video.
He then goes on to explain this idea which is reflected in an ancient Vedic wedding ritual. “In ancient Vedic days, on the day of the wedding the husband touched the feet of the woman. He bows down to the wife and it signifies the thought ‘I keep all my prestige and ego in your feet, now you take care of it. Don’t make me bow down anywhere else in the world.’ And he then pulls her toe and brings it on a rock which symbolises the idea that ‘You be like a rock. I know your emotions go up and down. But if you are like a rock our family can move on’. So these are the ancient ways in which people used to take vows… Similarly when a bride enters a home, they throw a bowl of rice that means fertility and abundance– that’s also an interesting tradition,” Sri Sri Ravishankar said about ancient weddign rituals and their meaning.
