‘Stay relaxed, hit ball’: Travis Head’s simple mantra behind remarkable IPL show | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Australia’s Travis Head smashed a whirlwind 89 off 32 balls to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad to another big IPL win, this time over Delhi Capitals in the national capital on Saturday.
Taking apart the Delhi bowling attack, Head and his opening partner Abhishek Sharma broke multiple powerplay records, guiding Sunrisers to a fourth 250-plus total this season.
Head, who has been in sizzling touch, once again took off from the word go, smacking 11 fours and 6 sixes on his way to an 82-run blitz.
Player of the Match Head, who also scored a century in SRH’s last game and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, said he was in good space following the match-winning knock.
“It’s nice, we are on a roll. Boys are playing well, very enjoyable. Just tried to stay relaxed and hit the ball. Need to keep things simple, need to react to the balls. Very pleased to continue with the same form,” Head said in the post-match presentation on Saturday.
Hyderabad have twice broken records this season for the highest total ever with scores of 277 and 287. They threatened to breach the mark once again at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium after Head and Abhishek’s unreal vertical start to the innings.
Alongside Head, Abhishek smashed a jaw-dropping 12-ball 46 and the Australian was quick to praise his opening partner for going all out against opposition spinners.
“First time we saw spin in the powerplay last game, and seeing how aggressive he is against spin, we try to let him do his thing against spin. He did it today too,” said Head.
Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant decision to put Hyderabad into bat on a batting-friendly pitch backfired heavily as the visitors produced the fourth highest total of the T20 tournament.
Delhi, were bowled out for 199 in 19.1 overs with left-arm quick T Natarajan returning impressive figures of 4-19.
