Strict traffic measures in Gurugram: Rs 10,000 instant challan for these offences |

In a bid to ensure clear passage for emergency vehicles, the Gurugram Traffic Police have announced a strict new measure. The traffic police personnel will begin imposing a Rs 10,000 fine starting from this week on individuals obstructing ambulances and fire trucks, according to a senior official, as cited by a PTI report.
DCP (traffic) Virender Vij said that zonal officers will record video evidence of such incidents. Offenders obstructing the path of emergency vehicles will receive immediate online challans, along with video proofs of the incident.

The fine for this offense, under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act, aims to facilitate unhindered passage for ambulances transporting critically ill patients to hospitals.
DCP Vij also said that the Gurugram traffic police are already facilitating green corridors for ambulances carrying organs for transplant to various hospitals, aiding in the rescue of patients in critical condition.
This strict measure comes in response to growing concerns about the number of incidents where emergency vehicles are delayed due to traffic congestion or careless driving. Such delays can have life-or-death consequences. Gurugram is often traffic jam-ridden during peak office hours and that’s why it becomes more important to address this issue so that, at least, emergency vehicles such as the ambulances and fire trucks are provided a smooth passage to reach their destination on time.
