Credit: Sunrise“King browns are actually the largest venomous snake in Australia and they have the largest venom of any venomous snake,” Billy said.Holding up the container of fresh venom, the handler said there was enough venom to kill the Sunrise crew, prompting a round of gasps from the studio.“That would roll everyone in the studio like three times,” Billy said.Shocked, Nat asked: “When you say roll, you mean kill?”“Yep,” the handler said. “So unbelievably toxic.”“Oh my days,” Shirvo responded.When Billy brought the snake closer to the hosts after it had been milked, the pair baulked – jumping away from the king brown.“No thanks!” Nat said.Nat and Shirvo jump away from the snake during the segment. Credit: SunriseDuring the segment, Billy said it was important for Australians to be extra vigilant with looking out for snakes around your home and yard.“We’ve just come out of like one of the warmest winters on record here on the east coast and snakes have come out active, you know,” he said.“From early to mid August and now we’re only a week or so away from September so it’s full snake season.”He handed out the following advice for anyone who spots a snake on their property.“If you see one, obviously leave it alone,” he said. “Don’t muck around, don’t try and catch it if it’s in your backyard – call a local snake catcher.“If you are unfortunate enough to get bitten by a venomous snake or a what you think is a snake even – you need to do first aid, which is the pressure immobilisation bandage.Nat and Shirvo during the segment. [Then] straight to hospital, no mucking around.“You gotta take snake bit serious and, and quickly, quick, quick.”He advised Australians to take some key steps to deter snakes.“You just got to keep your yards tidy, lawns mowed, rubbish piles at bay.“Timber stacks coming out of winter for people with fireplaces, they’re great places for snakes to camp up. You wanna keep that to a minimum.“Then you want, you want snake bite bandages at the back door, in mum’s bag in the car, wherever you possibly can just in case someone gets bitten.”At one point, the snake got very close to the handler’s foot.
