The pantless trend is alive and well at Paris Fashion Week. First, EmRata ditched her trousers in favor of an oversized sweater. Now, Sydney Sweeney has decided to go sans-pants at Miu Miu’s fall 2024 show.
The actor, fresh off her SNL hosting gig, took a stab at the brand’s take on workwear. She wore a black and white top with a raw, fraying hem, which matched her oversized blazer. She paired this interpretation of suiting with her white hotpants—embellished with silver sequins, rhinestones, and beads—over a pair of sheer black tights. Sweeney kept the styling simple, wearing black peep-toe platforms, a black velvet Wander bag, and round sunglasses.
Sweeney probably knows there’s no better place to be pantless than at Miu Miu, the show that seemingly kickstarted the trend a year ago with their briefs over tights. While Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber had all given it a try before, Emma Corrin, who walked the runway in an earlier iteration of the microshorts, was the genesis of the pantless craze in fashion. Since then, it’s been modeled by everyone from Real Housewives to Taylor Swift.
But is the pantless trend on the outs? Just as the wave is cresting, Miu Miu is perhaps signaling that it’s over. The fall 2024 show bared no trace of pantlessness; not a beaded panty in sight.
