Tata Motors: Tata Motors to build Rs 9,000-cr plant in Tamil Nadu

Tata Motors has signed an MoU with the TN government to establish a cutting-edge vehicle manufacturing facility for an investment of Rs. 9000 crores that will generate around 5000 jobs, TN Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said on Wednesday in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and senior officials of Tata Motors were present in Chennai for the signing of the MoU.

Following the signing of this MoU, Tata Motors in a stock exchange filing said that teams from Tamil Nadu’s nodal agency for investment promotion and facilitation Guidance and Tata Motors Group “will work together to take this opportunity forward.”

This will be Tata Motors’ second plant in south India after Dharwad in Karnataka and makes it the
state’s second big ticket auto investment after Vietnamese auto player VinFast is gearing up to begin manufacturing out of Thoothukudi.

“For the first time ever, TN has attracted two big automobile manufacturing investments within a span of just two months,” Rajaa said in his post.

He added that over the past couple of years, Tamil Nadu has become the hub for investments, fostering top-tier employment for the youth and amplifying the state’s industrial prowess. “We’re not just building factories; we’re engineering dreams and accelerating towards a brighter, more prosperous future,” he said.
