Tata Nexon Facelift: Tata Nexon facelift launch expected soon: What we know so far

Tata Motors is intensively working on introducing a second facelift for the Nexon, with the updated car expected to arrive in the Indian market very soon given the constant spotting of test mules in recent times. Already one of the top-selling SUVs in the country, the existing Nexonis packed up to the gills with features while also offering multiple powertrain options.Already facelifted once before, Tata Motors plans to equip the upcoming Nexon facelift with a range of new tech, while also giving it a fresh design to make it look more modern.

Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming Tata Nexon facelift, expected to go on sale in the coming months –
Design

A recent Tata Nexon facelift prototype was caught on cam with its front-end uncovered, revealing a new front fascia. The Nexon facelift test mule revealed a split-headlamp design, similar to what is seen on other Tata SUVs like Harrier, Safari and Punch. The LED DRLs on top were seen conjoined together with a thick black strip that also housed the Tata logo.
The main headlamp unit is seen placed slightly lower on the bumper- which is also completely redesigned and adapts a more aggressive look with added black elements. While the rear-end design of the upcoming Nexon facelift hasn’t been revealed so far, it is expected to get new LED tail lights with a full-width light bar connecting them together, which seems to be a growing trend these days.

Interior & features
The interior is expected to feature a major overhaul and be more premium than the outgoing model. A previous spy shot revealed a new center console with touch-operated HVAC function, along with a new gear shifter. While the AC vents will also be redesigned, the biggest addition will likely be the addition of a new flat-bottom two-spoke steering wheel with a screen in the middle for an illuminated logo and touch-sensitive buttons.
New features will likely include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with more connected features, a fully-digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger and so on. Features like electric sunroof, LED lights, cruise control, auto climate control, an 8-speaker sound system, and an air purifier are already on offer with the pre-facelift Tata Nexon, and will be carried over.
Powertrains

As of now, Tata Motors offers the Nexon with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine generating 113 hp of power and 260 Nm of torque, as well as a 1.2-litre three-pot turbocharged petrol motor that belts out 118 hp power and 170 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed AMT.
While the diesel motor will likely be carried over as it is, the turbo-petrol motor is expected to be replaced with a new engine with the same displacement, which was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 earlier this year. The new engine puts out 123 horsepower and 225 Nm torque, and will likely be available with a 6-speed MT along with an optional dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Expected price & rivals

Tata Motors currently retails the Nexon at a starting price of Rs 8 lakh, going all the way up to Rs 14.60 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom) for the top-end XZA+ LUX S Red Dark edition with the diesel-AMT combination. However, similar to any other facelift, the Tata Nexon will also likely see a marginal price hike, which might even reach Rs 15 lakh for the special edition versions. It will continue to rival sub-4m SUVs like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV300 in the country.
Tata Nexon EV facelift could also join
The Nexon EV is essentially a fully-electric version of the Nexon, built on the same platform. The ICE and EV versions of the Nexon share the overall same design and equipment list, apart from some minor changes here and there to set them apart. Hence, the Nexon EV facelift could also arrive soon after the standard Nexon facelift’s launch with similar design changes and feature add ons. It should be noted that test mules of the ICE Nexon facelift have only been spied so far, with no confirmation regarding a launch of either of the two.
Keeping all the changes and new feature additions in mind, would you pick the Tata Nexon facelift over its rivals? Let us know in the comments down below.
