Tata Punch facelift spotted testing for the first time: Gets Punch EV inspired design |

Homegrown automaker Tata Motors has made several important car launches in the last few months starting with the new Harrier, Safari, Nexon facelift SUVs and the all-electric Tata Punch.ev recently. And now the company is getting ready to launch the Tata Punch facelift micro SUV. The Punch was launched in the Indian market back in 2021 and is due to get a facelift. And now for the first time, the Punch facelift has been spied on test in India.

The spotted car has been extensively covered, so it’s hard to tell anything about its new design. But its upright silhouette looks similar to the existing model. The Punch facelift will take design inspiration from the Punch.ev and will feature a similar front end with full-width LED DRLs and a split headlamp setup. The micro-SUV will also feature a re-positioned Tata logo with a re-designed lower bumper and radiator grille with large air intakes.

On the sides, no major changes will be made except for the newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels and at the rear too it will get minimal cosmetic changes. It will include a re-designed tailgate with a sleeker bumper and revised taillights with LEDs. Other highlights will include reflectors on bumpers, high-mounted stop lamps, shark-fin antenna and integrated spoiler.

Moving inside, we expect the cabin of the Punch facelift to be similar to what we’ve seen in the Punch EV. The micro-SUV will feature a re-designed dashboard layout with twin 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and the instrument cluster. In terms of features, it’s expected to get ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, an air purifier, cornering fog lamps, an electric sunroof, wireless phone charging, connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and much more.

Mechanically, the Punch will continue with the same 1.2-litre, 3-cyl, NA Petrol engine with 86 hp of power and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic. We expect Tata might offer the Punch facelift with CNG and a turbo petrol option at launch, but there are no confirmations. When launched, the Punch facelift will continue to compete with Hyundai Exter, Maruti Fronx, Maruti Ignis, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and more.
