Teen accused over death of North Lakes mum Emma Lovell pleads guilty to her murder

One of two teenagers accused of killing Queensland mum Emma Lovell in a home invasion has pleaded guilty to her murder.

The 18-year-old man, who cannot be identified because he was aged 17 at the time of the incident, entered the plea in the Supreme Court in Brisbane on Monday.

He also pleaded guilty to burglary, malicious acts with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm over an attack on Lovell’s husband Lee Lovell.

The teen is due to be sentenced on May 3.

The other boy charged with her murder, also aged 17 at the time of the alleged offence, is yet to enter any pleas.

Lee Lovell declined to speak to the media as he left the court.

Emma Lovell died at her North Lakes home, north of Brisbane, on Boxing Day night in 2022.

She was allegedly stabbed in the chest.

Her death prompted widespread community outrage and was one of several high-profile crimes that led to the state government passing new youth justice laws last year.

Those laws included making it a crime for a child to breach their bail conditions, fitting GPS trackers on children as young as 15 and allowing courts to declare certain youths serious repeat offenders.
