Before officers could arrive, two teenaged boys presented to Blacktown Police Station with serious stab wounds.

They were treated at the scene, but one of the boys died.

The second boy was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

7NEWS understands the boys are brothers who were involved in a brawl with a group of five others.

Dozens of police swarmed the area looking for those involved.

Several crime scenes were taped off, and police were seen interviewing witnesses.

A 16-year-old boy was found nearby and was arrested a short time later.

The boy has since been charged with murder and refused bail.

He is due to appear before a children’s court on Saturday.

“Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command, with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, have commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Cooey,” police said.
