Teenager found dead in North Bondi unit identified

A teenager, who was found dead in a unit in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, has been described by grief-stricken loved ones as “funny” and “full of joy”.

About 9.20am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a fourth-floor unit on Hardy St at North Bondi, following reports a woman was found unresponsive.

Yolonda Mumbulla, 19, was declared dead at the scene.

Since the tragic news came to light, Mumbulla’s friend has organised a Go Fund Me page in her memory.

“With such sad and sudden news, we ask for your help in giving her a beautiful send off,” Alyah Pera said.

“Yolonda always had such an uplifting spirit, she was funny, full of joy, and she was always there to help anyone.

“Please let’s work together to help her on her final journey to lay her to rest.”

Meanwhile, neighbours have told 7NEWS they have been left “on edge” after a string of violent incidents in Sydney.

“The police have been here for a while, and they closed the whole street, so we definitely knew it was something serious straight away,” neighbour Bracha Kadoury told 7NEWS.

“We’re very sad about it … and shocked as well.

“It just feels like … what’s happening to this town? I’m a bit on edge.”

Detectives are looking at a number of lines of inquiry, including misadventure, police said.

“A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the woman’s cause of death,” they said.

Two men charged

A 32-year-old man, who had an outstanding warrant for unrelated drug charges, was arrested at the home and taken to Waverley Police Station.

Following his arrest on Tuesday, police searched an address on Flood St, Bondi, about 5.10pm and allegedly found 1g of methamphetamine and cannabis.

Police arrested a 34-year-old man at the home, who was also taken to Waverley Police Station.

The 34-year-old man was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug.

He was issued a field court attendance notice to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday, June 18.

The 32-year-old man was charged with the outstanding warrant for larceny value less than or equal to $2000, three counts of enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier, destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

The 32-year-old was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.

Investigations are ongoing.
