The One Thing Nail Professionals Avoid When It Comes to Their Own Nails

Nail technicians have revealed some of the things they would never do to their own nails based on their experience in the industry. One nail artist stated that she would never bite her nails because it is unsanitary and she questions what people are putting in their mouths when they bite their nails. Another technician emphasized the importance of ensuring that whirlpool jets are disinfected before getting a pedicure to avoid infections. Hard gels were also mentioned as something they would avoid due to the difficulty in removing them and the need for flexibility. Dip powder nails were deemed unsanitary and potentially harmful if there is an open cut. Picking at hangnails was discouraged as it can lead to open wounds and infections. Peeling off gels or extensions was also advised against as it can weaken and damage the natural nails. Lastly, it was suggested that salons should use fresh nail tools for each client or individuals can bring their own tools to prevent cross-contamination.
