The Voice judges have been split into two very unexpected rival camps as competition on the hit Channel Seven show heats up.

Australian judges Guy Sebastian and Jess Mauboy have taken aim at international judges Jason Derulo and Rita Ora in a move that’s been described as “messed up”.

Guy says he is determined to have one of the Australian judges win The Voice, saying “we can’t” let Jason or Rita win.

“I feel like the internationals have come in and they’re like, ‘Oh we’re from like somewhere else, we’re so good, we’re gonna win,’” he said.

“I’m not up for that energy. I’m not down for that.

“We can’t have another year where an international wins. Rita won last year.

“We need to bring the crown back to home turf. It’s like the Ashes – doesn’t belong in England, belongs right here.”

“Right here,” Jess agreed, adding: “Don’t take that, don’t take that.”

After listening to Guy and Jess slam them, Rita fired back – arguing that Guy and Jess had the advantage.

“Guys, no offence but you know half of the Aussies – you’re like ‘Hey, John! Hey, Tom! Hey, Susan!’” Rita said.

Jess responded that “Aussies are just like that, we have connection, we have a good vibe. You know, we just like that, we just chill.”

Jess’s words sparked a thunderous reaction from the crowd, who were clearly Team Jess and Guy.

The audience’s applause lead to Jason and Rita to accuse the Aussie pair of dirty tactics.

“Did she just get the crowd involved? That was low,” Jason said, shaking his head.

“That’s messed up,” Rita agreed. “That was crazy.”

Jason then fired off his own words of advice to the Aussie judges, warning them not to be complacent.

“When somebody has home court advantage, a lot of times they get comfortable,” he said. “That’s the perfect time to come in and swoop to win you know?”

“Swoop,” Rita agreed.

Facing off, Jason said the Aussie teams are playing tough in an effort to take home The Voice crown.

“Two Aussies, two internationals,” he said. “The Aussie side, they play this ‘nice guy’ game, but in reality they’re the most cut throat.”

Guy responded by saying: “They see me as a threat. The rivalry is real.”
