Music festival This That is pulling the plug in a shock announcement just two months before revellers were set to celebrate.

The festival was due to bring headliners Gang of Youths, Porter Robinson and Peking Duk to punters at Queensland’s Sandstone Point on November 4 before heading to Newcastle in NSW on November 11.

However, This That on Friday revealed the events were being scrapped for the second consecutive year, citing “challenging economic conditions this past year”.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce THIS THAT Sandstone Point (QLD) and Newcastle (NSW) festivals will no longer be going ahead,” festival organisers said.

“It has left us feeling that the THIS THAT experience you have come to know and love, and that we pride ourselves on offering, would only be dampened if we were to forge ahead.”

The festival had locked in local talent including Alex Lahey, Hockey Dad, Hooligan Hefs, Slumberjack, The Presets and Winston Surfshirt to bring the party back to the coast for the 2023 edition.

Oztix will be contacting ticketholders to organise refunds.

“These refunds will automatically be returned to the original card used in the purchase process for both QLD and NSW dates,” the festival said.

“Keep an eye on your inbox for updates regarding this.”

Frustrated festival goers took to social media to share their disappointment at the “depressing” news.

“You’re joking,” one person said.

“So sorry to hear guys,” another said.
