The Tata Nexon is counted among the best-selling compact SUVs in the Indian market, priced between Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 14.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the hood, the Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine, offering a peak power of 118 hp @ 5,500 rpm and a max torque of 170 Nm @ 1,750-4,000 rpm. On the other hand, the Nexon also comes equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel engine which churns out a peak power of 113 hp @ 3,750 rpm and a max torque of 260 Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. Featuring an electric sunroof, the Tata Nexon gets three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport.
Nissan Magnite
Nissan Magnite is a sub-4-metre SUV, with prices starting from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 10.86 lakh (ex-showroom). Mechanically, the Magnite SUV is powered by a 1.0-litre NA petrol engine, which generates 70 hp power and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, churning out a max power of 97 hp. The former is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the latter gets a five-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic transmission. Some key features of the Nissan Magnite include automatic climate control, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 3.5-inch LED instrument cluster and cruise control.
Renault Kiger
The Renault Kiger is a compact SUV, priced between Rs 6.50 lakh to Rs 11.23 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. Notable features of the Kiger include an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, automatic climate control and more. At its heart, the Kiger is equipped with two engine options – a 1.0-litre NA petrol with 69 hp power and 96 Nm torque and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol with 97 hp power and 160 Nm torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed CVT unit.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Maruti Suzuki introduced the Fronx compact SUV in the Indian market in April 2023 at a starting price of Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec variant is priced at Rs 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of features, the Fronx comes equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger and cruise control. Powering the Maruti Suzuki Fronx are a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, NA petrol engine and a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. The former produces 88 hp power and 113 Nm torque, while the latter generates 97 hp power and 147 Nm torque. A five-speed manual, an AMT gearbox and a six-speed torque converter gearbox are transmission options available with the Fronx.
Tata Punch
Tata Punch is the smallest SUV in the compact SUVs list in India, with prices starting from Rs 5.49 lakh and going up to Rs 9.30 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). It is equipped with features, such as projector headlamps, climate control, a cooled glove box, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver display. Under the hood, the Tata Punch uses a 1.2-litre Naturally-Aspirated Revotron petrol engine, generating a peak power of 83.3 hp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 3,300 rpm. It is mated with a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
