Toronto woman, 26, sought for rental fraud

A 26-year-old Toronto woman is sought in connection with a rental scheme involving deposits taken for apartment rentals that never materialized.

Toronto Police said that between June and August 2023, a woman used various websites to advertise apartments for rent in the city.

Would-be renters provided deposits for an apartment and would then be contacted and told that the property was no longer available.

Police said those attempting to rent apartments found out that the woman was not authorized to show or rent the apartments.

Lariza Resendez Lopes is wanted for fraud under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Cops said that she has been operating under the company names ‘TorontoRental.org’ and ‘LRLManagement.’

Police said victims have been defrauded and police believe there may be more victims.
