Toyota May Introduce Maruti Suzuki Fronx-Based SUV Following Rumion: Here Are the Details

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently unveiled the Rumion MPV in India i.e. the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, introduced as a part of the product and technology sharing partnership between the two companies. It looks like another Maruti Suzuki product is set to be sourced by Toyota to be rebadged and sold from its showrooms – the Fronx.

As per a report by TeamBHP, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has trademarked the ‘Urban Cruiser Taisor’ name in India, hinting that a new SUV is in the works.

The Urban Cruiser name has previously been used by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza based Toyota sub-4m SUV, while the suffix is also used by the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. With the Urban Cruiser now discontinued, the Taisor could go on to become Toyota’s most affordable SUV in India.
The Fronx is off to a great start in the country, climbing up the sales charts to become one of the top-selling SUVs in the month of July 2023. If Toyota does introduce a Fronx-based crossover SUV, it would further help the carmaker grow its market share in the country. It should be noted that the Taisor will be a badge-engineered version of the Fronx and not a new product altogether, in all likelihood.
Some design changes could include a new grille, restyled bumpers and unique LED elements for the headlights and tail lights. A new interior theme could be adopted as far as colours and upholstery are concerned, while the overall layout will remain unchanged. The Toyota Taisor will carry over the Fronx’s equipment list as well.

Maruti Suzuki offers the Fronx with a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine producing 89 hp power and 113 Nm torque, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit that puts out 99 hp and 148 Nm. These are the same powertrains that will be carried over to the Toyota-badged crossover SUV too. A CNG option will likely also be available.
Which other Maruti Suzuki car would you like to be rebadged by Toyota (and vice versa) to be sold in India in the future? Let us know in the comments down below.
