Traffic on Richmond-San Rafael Bridge resumes after emergency halt, bridge reopens Saturday morning

All lanes on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge were reopened shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, roughly 17 hours after an emergency halted eastbound traffic, officials said.

The bridge was closed around 2 p.m. Friday, when emergency crews began negotiating with a person experiencing a mental health crisis and threatening to jump off the lower deck of the bridge.

The person requested help to come back up Saturday morning and was rescued by Southern Marin Fire Department, according to the California Highway Patrol.
