Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce took a jab at Aaron Rodgers after the New York Jets quarterback called him “Mr. Pfizer,” a nod to Kelce’s recent appearance in an ad for the COVID-19 vaccine maker.

“I thought it was pretty good. With the ‘stache right now, I look like a guy named Mr. Pfizer,” Kelce said Friday, before dropping a witty reference to the Jets’ owner.

“Who knew I’d get into the vax wars with Aaron Rodgers, man. Mr. Pfizer versus the Johnson & Johnson family over there.”

Rodgers’ team is co-owned by Woody Johnson, an heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune. That company, like Pfizer, has produced a COVID-19 vaccine.

Kelce’s remarks come after the injured quarterback, whose Jets lost to the Chiefs last weekend, debuted the Mr. Pfizer nickname on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Kelce and his mother had appeared in a Pfizer commercial that promotes getting immunized against both COVID-19 and the flu.

On Friday, Kelce told reporters that he got vaccinated to keep himself, his family and members of his organization safe.

“I stand by it 1,000%. Fully comfortable with him calling me Mr. Pfizer,” Kelce said of Rodgers.

The quarterback sparked headlines in 2021 when he tested positive for COVID-19 before a game against the Chiefs.

Rodgers, who played for the Green Bay Packers at the time, had previously told reporters that he’d “been immunized.” But he later confirmed that he hadn’t, in fact, gotten vaccinated against COVID-19.

In an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” last year, he acknowledged that he had misled the media with his “immunized” statement.
