The option to hide the checkmark will appear in the ‘Profile customization’ section of account settings. Published: August 2, 2023 4:12 PM IST By IANS
New Delhi: X Corp (formerly Twitter) has granted paid users under its Blue service the ability to hide their verification marks on the platform. In an update, the company led by Elon Musk stated that paid subscribers can choose to hide the checkmarks on their accounts. “The checkmark will be concealed on your profile and posts. However, it may still appear in certain areas and some features may still reveal that you have an active subscription,” said X. “While your checkmark is hidden, certain features may not be accessible. We will continue to enhance this feature to improve your experience,” added the social media platform. The option to hide the checkmark will be found in the “Profile customization” section of account settings. Twitter eliminated legacy checkmarks in April of this year, but later reinstated the Blue checkmark for celebrity and influencer accounts for free. The company has also announced that it will limit direct messages (DMs) for unverified accounts in order to reduce spam on the platform. Unverified accounts will have daily limits on the number of DMs they can send. To send unlimited DMs, a Twitter user will now be required to subscribe to Twitter Blue. In the meantime, as Musk launched its ads revenue program for creators worldwide, including in India, users must be subscribed to X Blue (previously Twitter Blue), have at least 15 million impressions on cumulative posts within the last three months, and have at least 500 followers in order to earn money.
